About

What is Farm School?

Farm School is a weekly program designed to nurture confident, capable children by immersing them in the rhythms, responsibilities, and rich learning opportunities of farm life. Rather than learning only from books, students engage directly with the land, animals, and seasonal cycles that shape the world around them.

The program blends outdoor education, real agricultural experience, and hands-on learning in a working farm environment. Each day is rooted in purpose, giving children the chance to take on meaningful responsibilities while developing practical skills and a strong sense of independence.

At Farm School, learning is active, engaging, and deeply connected to real life.

What Kids Experience Each Week

Each week at Farm School is thoughtfully structured to balance learning, exploration, and responsibility. Children participate in themed lessons that often reflect the seasons or holidays, helping them connect their learning to the natural world and the passage of time.

Students take part in helpful farm chores, learning the value of contributing to a shared community. They also have dedicated time for personalized learning, allowing them to explore new interests, follow their curiosity, and grow at their own pace. Along the way, they build meaningful friendships and develop strong social connections.

Hands-on experiences are at the heart of the program. Children rotate through a variety of activities such as caring for animals—including chickens, goats, cows, pigs, ducks, and horses—learning the basics of gardening and plant cultivation, and exploring soil and water science. They become familiar with farm tools and how to use them safely and effectively, and gain a deeper understanding of where food comes from, tracing it from the farm all the way to the table.

Through inquiry-based learning, students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and explore ideas in ways that reflect their unique learning styles. This approach fosters curiosity and helps each child develop a genuine love of learning.

Why Kids Love Farm School

Farm School offers something truly special: learning that feels meaningful and real. Children aren’t just completing tasks, they’re contributing in ways that matter. This sense of purpose helps build confidence, resilience, and a strong work ethic.

Students are treated as capable, valuable contributors, which empowers them to take ownership of their learning and their responsibilities. The hands-on nature of the program allows them to fully engage with agriculture and the natural world, creating experiences that are both memorable and impactful.

Most importantly, Farm School helps children grow into curious, confident, and kind individuals. They leave each day not only with new knowledge, but with a deeper sense of connection – to the land, to others, and to themselves.

This isn’t pretend. It’s real-life work, with real-life lessons.
